Full-Time Manager of Foundation Philanthropy in Modesto

Responsibilities

  • Write proposals for new and renewing funds from federal, state, and local government agencies as well as private foundations; including development of drafts, assembly and submission of grant requests, letters, proposals, budgets, and supplemental materials.
  • Responsible for drafting, review, assembly and submission of proposals and stewardship reports.
  • Conceptualize projects that qualify for philanthropic funding and develop into compelling, professionally packaged proposals.
  • Identify upcoming funding opportunities and research funding entity history, interests, grant ranges and application process.
  • Persuasively communicate the organization’s mission and programs to potential funding entities.
  • Development of individual donor solicitation packets.
  • In collaboration with the Executive Director, host tours of clinics to build individual and foundation interest in GVHC programs.
  • Prepare correspondence and materials, speaking points, proposals and presentations for the Executive Director, Executive Leadership Team, Event Chairpersons and other Committee volunteers as needed
  • Compose and edit: Foundation press releases, speeches, scripts, promotional literature, and articles for internal and external use
  • Build and foster collaborative relationships with other departments and staff to keep abreast of stores, new initiatives, or other newsworthy publicity
  • Manage donor-in-kind relationships; maintaining confidentiality of information related to the organization as well as its’ staff, patients, and visitors.
  • Conduct donor follow up regarding benefits, reservations, acknowledgements and recognition when appropriate.
  • Assist with identifying prospects as well as securing of sponsorships, ticket sales, and various donations for events

Qualifications

Education/Experience Requirements:   

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in an area with emphasis in writing: Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Public or Health Administration, or related field. 
  • Minimum three (3) years proposal writing and working with institutional donors experience required.
  • Previous experience with fundraising with individuals preferred.

Ability to:

Demonstrate strong and effective verbal and written communication skills; write clear, structured, articulate and persuasive proposals; knowledge of fundraising information sources and familiarity with research techniques for fundraising prospecting; knowledge of basic fundraising techniques and strategies.  Exercise confidentiality and discretion.

Skills:

Create concise, eye-catching, and innovative headlines and body copy; Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Strong health information systems ability with demonstrated use of data in management practices.  Must hold a valid California Driver’s License, have reliable transportation, proof of insurance and acceptable driving history.

Physical Demands:          

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and push up to 100 pounds on wheels.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
