LearningQuest - Stanislaus Literacy Centers (LQ) is a nonprofit with service sites throughout the Central Valley focused on providing free education for adults looking to earn their high school equivalency (HSE) certificate/diploma, learn English, or improve their reading and writing. LearningQuest also provides free individualized tutoring for children, grades 2-6 and diagnosed with dyslexia, at the Stanislaus County Library with their KidsQuest program. Through passionate staff, partnerships with literacy-focused organizations, and contributions from donors, LearningQuest is able to help over 1,000 individuals work toward and reach their literacy goals every year.

Job Description

The Project Manager of Communication will support communication efforts focused on increasing the awareness of LQ’s brand, services, and student stories with the community through engaging content. Among many other related tasks and projects, they will support the marketing aspects of fundraisers, outreach events, community partnerships, sponsorship agreements, and program highlights. The Project Manager will have a mature and resilient attitude that can proactively learn from critique and work as a team, while still maintaining autonomy and meeting deadlines. They have the mindset for possibilities, potential partnerships, and opportunities to creatively share stories about LQ students and programs. The Project Manager can see the bigger picture, dream of goals, and plan out the logistics to reach those goals.

Responsibilities


  • Work as a team to develop creative and engaging digital and print marketing strategies and campaigns
  • Design, write, edit, publish and re-share engaging content for social media posts, videos, emails, website, blog posts, newsletters, campaigns, etc.
  • Assist with design projects: postcards, banners, flyers, newsletters, bookmarks, presentations, brochures, etc.
  • Monitor and communicate through LQ’s social media channels: Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube
  • Oversee the organization’s communication calendar and schedule promotion for events and program highlights
  • Capture and edit photos and video, then organize and maintain the photo/video archives
  • Assist with the annual book drive
  • Assist with sponsor relations and logistics for LQ events
  • Oversee LQ’s outreach events: research potential events, set up event displays and staff, schedule staff, organize and maintain event supplies, distribute inquiry sheets, analyze ROI sheets, research giveaway items, transport supplies to/from events, etc.
  • Assist with monitoring online paid ads through Facebook/Instagram and Google Ads
  • Conduct phone or in-person interviews for writing stories with students, volunteers, staff, donors, board members, etc.
  • Give tours of the Learning Center when the Program Manager and Executive Director are unavailable
  • General administrative tasks: phone calls, emails, envelope stuffing, folding, filing, mail merging, large print jobs, etc.
  • Operate general office equipment: phones, copier, PC computers/mouse/keyboard, etc.
  • Efficiently track, analyze, and report results in order to make progressive recommendations
  • Provide consistent project updates to supervisor
  • Assist with additional tasks and projects related to the job position or to improve company culture

Qualifications

Required

  • 1+ years of consistent experience relative to this job position
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, fundraising or related field
  • Typing speed minimum: 50 WPM
  • Experience with online platforms: WordPress, MailChimp, Hootsuite, Canva, etc.
  • Intermediate knowledge and application of PC systems, Google apps, Microsoft Office
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license
  • Must have an active mobile smart phone for some social media posting (wifi only provided at LQ office)
  • Must be able to move, lift, and carry supplies, up to 40 lbs. (hand truck available for assistance)
  • Must provide writing and design samples of articles, social media posts, eBlasts, layouts, etc.

Preferred

  • Video editing
  • Ability to speak Spanish
  • Previously worked in a nonprofit or in fundraising
